Why do I need an Arizona CCW permit when we have Constitutional Carry?
This is a great question, yet can be answered simply. There are a number of benefits one gets with have an AZ CCW. A few of these are listed below:
Knowledge.
You need to know the law and how it applies to you. A great starting point is the USCCA site. Once you understand this, you need to take a training class (like the ones Level 5 Combat Systems provide) and get the credentials to get your certificate. There are many things that can trip you up, learn how to navigate this sometimes murky area.
Reciprocity.
Without an AZ CCW permit you do not have reciprocity in other states.
Additional Carry areas.
Arizona CCW Permit Holders may enter a commercial establishment which serves alcoholic beverages, while carrying concealed, provided the establishment allows firearms on their premises and provided you personally do not indulge in the consumption of any alcoholic beverage. Additionally, A CCW Permit, under Federal Law, is required in order to have a firearm in your possession when you are within 1000 feet of a school ground.
No background check when purchasing a firearm.
In AZ, you can walk into a gun shop, make your purchase, show your CCW permit and no background check needs to be run. This saves time and money.
So yes, while you can carry without a permit, there are plenty of reasons why you may want to your permit. We can help you do that. Feel free to contact us to schedule a class.
